Why do we drool during sleep?

During the day, our body naturally produces saliva to aid digestion and keep the mouth moist. We usually swallow this saliva without even realizing it.

But when we sleep, several changes occur in our body.

Facial muscles relax, swallowing frequency decreases, and body position can prevent saliva from remaining in the mouth.

As a result, saliva can flow gently outwards, especially if the head is tilted or if the mouth remains open during sleep.
